Default How to change gauge backlight color??

I had this idea tonight while I was riding around, I was thinking that I would like to change the color of the lighting on the gauges from red to something like blue maybe, not really sure how to go about it or if its even possible, Ive never taken apart the speedo. Anyone have any ideas? 07 r6 by the way.

Yea, I saw the blue gauges on the R1 and was wishing mine were blue. But I guess red is alright for now.

Yeah, i posted the same question on r6-forum and someone told me about www.bluegauges.com, i checked it out and they have a pretty cool set up, they have a few different colors to choose from, different faceplates too, only thing is that you have to send your gauge cluster to them so they can do it, they have to de-solder the led backlights, put new ones in then re-solder everything. They give instructions about how to do it, but its not bike specific. overall pretty cool though, i'm prob gonna do it before too long, i think it was only like $50-$60 for the backlights.

you need at least 2 T5 slim wedge bulbs. go to any LED store online most likely and select the color of your choice. i just did this "mod" a few weeks ago and i like it. i went from regular filament bulb to red LED. only complaint is the tach is a little dim but thats not due to the LED but rather the color of the tach "glo" working against the color. but no worries i don't ride hard enough at night to think about the rpms.

how to do it: take the front off somehow get to the back of your instrument cluster. twist and pull the bulbs out and insert new ones in. simple. done.

ledlight.com is where i bought mine. cheap and very bright. although get the shorter ones, i bought two sets just in case, short and tall and the tall didn't fit in there right.
