2010 models
Hey guys, just wondering...
When do the 2010 models come out?
Are there any pictures or information on the 2010 models yet for the big 4 companies?

IF yamaha comes out with a new model r6 in 2010... (and I hope they don't) it will probably not be released until jan-feb of 2010... and it will likely have the cross-plane crank that the new R1 has. (and I will be pissed because ive dumped 13k into my 08 and I will be getting my ass handed to me in a year)

Answer: I don't care.
If I think about it too much I won't be as happy with my 08, which I love.
If I upgrade in the next year it'll be to an 09 R1, and there's no point in doing that so I probably will have this bike for a while. I have some freedom since I'm not upside down in it at all, but it still seems rediculous to swap bikes every year and blow a ton of money on nothing. Ride it till I total it, that's how it'll go.

Question: If I were to go to the dealership, and decide on a bike and buy it. Can I have them order a bike and pick it up when it gets there? My reason behind that is because I wouldn't want to buy and take home one of the "floor models" because those have been sat on and messed around with by who knows how many people. So I'd rather have a bike that is brand new and was never on a showroom.
So is that possible to request from the dealership? (dumb question maybe but I've never bought anything from a dealership so I don't know the "protocol")

My understanding is that Yamaha does not have an order program such as this. Each dealership is alotted a certain number of bikes per year. Now, a dealership can call around and get a specific color for you, but there is no gaurantee it wasn't on the showroom floor somewhere else. Your best bet is to go in and ask the dealership what bikes they have coming in in the future. If you can get a brand new one that is coming in a month in the color you want then you would be fine. Really though, just look the bike over well, make sure there are no scratches and what not. Unless the shop let's people ride them I wouldn't worry.

Most dealerships do not set all of their bikes on the showroom floor they keep them in crates and will assemble them after the purchase

if you continually wait for "next year's" R1 or R6, you'll never own one

my guess is the 2010 r6 will feauture technology similar to the 09 r1 such as the crossplane crank shaft and the operator controled map settings. they seem to come out with the tech on the r1 a year ahead then integrate it into the r6, such as the ycct, and ycci in the later r6 models. thats my guess but who knows, the only thing you can bet on is it will be sick.

We already have the new R6. It has the same cross plane crank set up as the new R1, BUT it does not have the R1s hideous looking headlites.
I was going to get one 2 weeks ago (its the 09 model over here), but after talking numbers, I walked outside, saw my current one, and changed my mind lol.

And where do you live that you already have the 2010 R6 6 or so months before it's supposed to be out? I find that hard to believe
