Default Cheap Carb Sync Tool

I've read the threads here and other forums about the pricey carb sync tools or DIY fluid in a tube. I purchased a vacum manifold presure gauge $15 local Canadian Tire, scale 0-60 psi vacume, mechanical analog. I've used it on my Dodge. Take off a vacume hose and plug the tapered end in. Run engine and diagnose top end leaks and issues.

Question....

Why don't people use this type of gauge to measure and balance carb vacume at the same place you put the other carb sync tools. Block three measure one, across the bank, then adjust to bring to average. I haven't tried, as I think I'm missing something obvious here.

Any comments why this wouldn't or would work?

i thought the same thing and i thought it would work too, so i went and bought 2 vacum gauges and tried, i just did this 5 days ago. it doesnt work, at all. when i hooked them up to check the vacum, the needles in the vacum guage was bounceing all over the place, there was no possible way to even read where the needle was, it went from positive 25 to negitive 6, back and forth so fast, when u reved the engine to like 10k then the needle would calm down a little and only bounce back and forth between 5 psi and 10 psi. i cant give u a scientific definition but i can tell u it dont work at all.i hope this helps.

but if anyone has a sync tool they want to sell for cheap or let me barrow for a few days let me know, im in wisconsin. thanks

The type of guages needed to buffer the rapid fluctuations of a single MC carb cost a bit more.
The tube-O'-oil method works well.

Thanks for the feedback Millisd. figured there was a catch. Guess the fact its a single cylinder/carb vs. a 6 cylinder/1 carb means vacume doesn't stabilize on bike. Tube and fluid must buffer. Guess I'm building the plumber's dream...:-)
