Default 03 Gear Changing problem

My 03 R6 has 6,000 miles, and I've been having occasional problems shifting from 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th. The lever moves just fine, but it won't go into gear until the second try. Stangely, this does not happen when I'm riding it hard - winding it out and shifting fast. It happens when I'm riding around town at lower speeds shifting at 6,000 rpm. My clutch is fine and adjusted.
It really feels more like a problem in the Gearchange mechanism than with the gears themselves. In my Haynes Service and Repair Manual under Fault Finding/Section 6 Gearchanging problems/"Doesn't go into gear...", there are two items listed that seem likely:
- "Gearchange mechanism stopper arm spring weak or broken, or arm roller broken or worn".
- "Selector drum binding. Caused by lubrication failure or excessive wear. Replace drum and/or its bearing.

Does anyone have any experience with Gearchange mechanism problems? Is this a known issue with '03+ R6's? In looking at the diagram (page 2-32) they also mention to check for wear to the selector pins. Any knowledgeable help would be greatly appreciated - thanks, Greg
