Default Replacing forks on an '04

I'm putting new forks in (old ones bent in a crash) and not sure how to adjust them (higher or lower in the triple clamps) and what to measure from. Is there a measurement from some place on the triples or bars to follow? I was looking in the manual and didn't see it mention anything.

depends, are your bars above the tripple or below, do you have a 190 or 180 rear tire, and what about the front tire?
Around 15-20mm of fork tube above the clamp is a good place to start, so if you have stock bars that are mounted above the clamp the forks should be pretty close to flush with them. Just a starting point.. but i raced an 03 and an 04 with 180 rears and this worked good for me.
