Default gas tank question

the other day i accidentally dropped a metal rod in my gas tank. with frustration i tried to take apart the gas tank in order for the rod to be removed but i could not find a way to take out the fuel pump or what ever its called thats on the bottom. since i guess the diameter is larger has anyone taken it off and would there be a special way to do so
since i have no idea to take it out the metal rod is still in my gas tank any help would be appreciated

thanks in advance

it will come out.. kinda tricky and you have to turn it just right and it will take patience. There is a tab on the side that can be snipped off that will help some. Dont force it, and if the clip comes off be careful to not pull the wires out of the electric pump.
