Default Fuel Reserve Light coming on even with full tank

i bought my bike last winter from a guy who stored the bike all year. this spring i took apart the carbs, cleaned out the entire system, changed the spark plugs, and synched the carbs.

however, lately ive been noticing that the fuel reserve light will come on and stay on even after i have filled up the tank to the brim with gas. any ideas as to how to solve this? its kinda annoying to not be able to tell if im actually low on gas or if the bike is just bs'ing me.

any insights to this problem would be great. thanks!

I don't have my manual in front of me (you should probably hunt for one online) but I know that there is a fuel sending unit inside the tank with the fuel pump. I believe it consists of a float or some device that moves with the fuel level. It's probably stuck which means drain the tank (use a pump siphon) and pull the fuel pump out of it. Investigate from there.
