Default Removing Bar End Weight

02 R6..............I assume it just unscrews........counterclockwise to remove? I went to replace grips this weekend and the bar end weight refused to loosen. I used a hex socket on 3/8 drive ratched and applied what I'd consider almost to much force and it didn't budge. Are they loctited? I did get the new grip on.........they will slide over the weight with a little hairspray but it kind of bugs me the weight wouldn't unscrew. I was afraid of bending the handlebar if I used a breaker bar on it.

Yep it just unscrews. I used a hex socket on an electric impact wrench and it came off like butter.

i had a really hard time getting mine off of my 02 but i eventually got it. it is counterclockwise. i just put it where i had to push down and put all my weight on it. i dont think you can bend the clip on unless your morbidly obese. good luck

I had the same problem this weekend. I got my right one off but the left would not budge! I guess I will try to slide the new grip over like you did...

Don't any of you have a impact wrench? If not just use the breaker bar with the socket. It is locktited in. Be sure to use locktite when you replace them.

Just put some ass into it man. haha

Well if its giving you that much of a problem, go to Pep boys or Home depot and just rent one for a hour.

Otherwise, Harbor Freight(not the best) sells them for like 60 bucks
