I bought a used first generation track bike and it had a snakes nest of unused wiring harness loose around the faring bracket. The unused wires for the track bike are the two headlight plugs, two headlight relays, right and left turn signals. I decided to trim these off.
Before: (actually this is after shot where I just threw the trimmed wires on top to illustrate there amount of wire there was before. This how-to was an after thought.)
After: (nice and clean)

1. Unwrap the electrical tape form the wiring harness for assess and so that you can confirm that you don’t want them.
2. Release the unused wire terminals from the plug. The plugs are “push to seat” ,so you will have to jimmy the release tool from the terminal side of the plug opposite where the wires come out. If you don’t have a release tool use a small eyeglass repair screw driver or the wire part of a old windshield wiper. Jam the tool in where the terminal locks in, wiggle the tool around while pulling on the wire.
You will release around 2 or 3 terminals from the Tachometer side of the wiring harness. One is the high beams and the others are the turn signals, I believe.
You will remove 4 terminals form the bike side of the wiring harnesses. (high/ low beams and turn signals.) I speak vaguely because the first generation might be different than your generation.
3. Around tree wires will still be connected by 3-way splices. Unwrap the electrical tape around the splice, snip the un needed wire, and recover with electrical tape.
4. Snip the ground (black wire) that goes to the lighting.
5. Re-wrap the slimed down stump of a wiring harness for the tack with electrical tape and call it good. You will loose about a half pound of wiring harness and clean up your track bike of unneeded wires.
