How To: Oil light fix (mixing gauge years)
If you have a 99-00 bike and you try to put 01-02 gauges on it, you will quickly find out that the oil light will stay on
The fix is simple:
There are 2 wires (WHITE and RED/BLUE) to hard-wire together.
1. Remove the seat
2. Among the wiring, you will see a small black relay with 4 wires running into it.
3. We are concerned with only two of these wires; one is WHITE and one is RED/BLUE
4. I pulled back the tape to get some slack, then used a knife to remove the coating on one side of each wire.
5. Twist the wires together, then tape them up securely.
6. Start the bike. The oil light should come on for 2-3 secs, then go out.
7. Replace relay to proper location.
8. Replace seat.
9. Project finished.
**Note**This does not appear to be just a "quick fix." My oil light appears to retain all functionality!
