Got the headphones at Target for $11. Changed the original how-to that reflects this.
Not to sound like a nerd, but I worked at Radio Shack and they have a GREAT set of headphones called the PRO 35, if they still carry them, they are the best headphones for the money. They are very loud, and have great sound. I think they are about $30ish.

Good write up

Ah yes one A+ mod for the money. I sotra came about doing this on my own and thought i was so clever ( Im clearly sheltered). The Arai has this perfect space under the liner around the cheek pad, its like it was meant to be. I must say you drive a tad more aggressive when your favorite song is blasting in your ear. All ya need now is to drill a hole in the back to install a little jack so you can unplug your skid plate and become wireless.

Actually it's not. Driving or riding with headphones or earbuds on is illegal. Riding with speakers in your helmet is no different then riding with speakers in your car. There is nothing in the law about the distance requirements between your ear and a speaker, and many nice cars have speakers in the headrests.

I use Koss 'The Plug' earbuds. They are earplug/earphones. Different than standard earbuds. Check them out if the sound of this mod is too quiet for you.

I just completed my own and it came out great, the concept is the same but it is pretty different then this one, I love the music while riding.

I did it with my ear plugs, this way if I want it louder all I have to do is reach behind the cheek pad and plug it into my ear. If you have an ipod there is an option to raise all the sound levels on your ipod songs. I wear an HJC with horrible wind noise and it sounds fine.

I'm with you. I tryed headphones for 2-3 days. I stopped when I listened to them that loud off the bike and realized I was going to be deaf really quick.
