If my voltage is around 19V what could this be? I checked my plug and its perfect, no fryness, no burns at all, mint condition and really tight connection to the r/r. Would this mean that my r/r is dead? If so, is there a way to diagnose the r/r before replacing it? Thanks for your help

Hi,
Are you sure it's 19V? I'd expect you to be blowing bulbs are boiling the battery at that voltage!
Kev ... It's mounted below the headlamp about half way between the fairing and frame, under the fusebox.
Cheers,
Gavin

i tried to follow the instructions but man i got to tell you that shit is hard as hell to get to. i took apart almost my whole rear end tryin to get to it..i finnally was able to get it unplugged to discover that yes my conector is fried to. i am not a genoius about this sort of stuff..i woudnt know how to replace a male female connector..so i was considering just buying the whole wiring harness and replacing it like that...the harness does come with the plug right? the actual box should be fine right? or should i replace that too? by the way its still connected i cant get to the screwa for shit

hey i just finished the procedure and after tendering the battery for 10 minutes...bang she started right up.. i let her run for like 15 minutes to finish the charging...i need to get a meter checking tool to see if the amps are steady but she is showing no signs of dropping..im gonna turn her off and wait like an hr and see what happens...before she would start and shut off and as soon as i shut her off she woudnt crank back on..until she died totally. but so far so good..i will repost after the half hr to see if she is still good.

well it restarted fine, woooohoooo... hey any guys know how can i test to see if the rectifier is fixed..to see if its charging properly

i think i may have reacted a little prematurely..i was putting her back together when i noticed that my left signal was not workin properly..so i put the bike on power only and began to track the problem, when all of a sudden it went dead not fully deadbut unable to start it dead..out of nowhere..waaaaaaa

the bike doesnt charge at idle.. you have to ride it around.

also, if the battery was dead, or has died multiple times, you'll need to replace it, and a 10min bump on a new battery isnt enough.

I thought we've been through this already. I proved someone else wrong before too.

if you look at my pics one is while the bike is off. 12.88 volts. thats dead on specs.
the other pic is at idle. volts are 14.10. thats also dead on with the specs.
if my bike just happens to be different I dont know. but mine is for sure charging at idle.
now if it keeps charging at that rate after it warms up a bit I dont know.
now also since my bike is an 03 it may have to have that output for the computer and stuff. the older models might not have that kind of output at idle. but mine sure does.

I need to check this on my '01. I always let it warm up to about 140 before I start riding, then it gets to 175 or so pretty fast. But the last few times I rode my temp would keep switching to "low" and then back to 175 or wherever it was at before it went to low. It did this while I was riding and it's never done that before. Could it be my rectifier plug frying?
