You must really have some munchkin hands to be able to pull out the rectifier. I feel your pain though, I went through it a couple months ago. Although, I had to only replace one of the female ends..................why does this sound so much like a perverted sex post???

Default rectifier/regulator hot spot fried burnt

[quote=jetted6]tools neccesary:

this just happened to me the other day.

So thats...ahhh...rectifier/regulator thing-a-ma-gig-dew-hicky.

I had to push my bike home! Luckly i was on my way home from the twisty 2-hour tour. I pushed bertha 1km home. People were driving by laughing. I couldn't see there smiles (to exhausted from pushing, to look up). One jackass said "Suck's to be you buddy!" I was pissed to say the least.
I was coming up on 15,000km and there had been zero maintance to the regulator plug. I'm now positive from all the threads on this site that due to a lack of dieelectrical grease, high rpms, hard riding, then sitting in traffic, heating up, blank speedo, turns off an on when drawing power by using brake lights turn signal, these were but a few of the symptoms.
after inspecting the plug the evidence was clear, burnt and crispy..just the way I don't like my regulator to be. Kewl I love modifactions. Magiver is my middle name. It's fun and easy when there's lots of threads and pictures. THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO POSTED pictures they were very helpful...made it ano-brainer.

yeah mine looked similar to crazzybabys, not as fried tho, i have an r1 rectifier on mine, the wires accuatly come out of the rectifier with a male plug at the end of the wires. vs. the r6's male plug being right on the rectifier. i then just cut off the plug on the r1 rectifier and spliced the wires (or hardwire) havent had a problem since.

I cut out the burnt part of the plug namely the black and red. I cut them, and attached a female connector. I left the 3 white wires and the plug intact. I added some dieelectrical grease for good measure.

I tested the voltage and I'm good. The regulator is still hot as a mofo. I'm concerned. I need a relocation or cooling solution. i see the fan plan thread and the put it under the tail relocation. I want to see the 2006 where they put them.
