Default Ohlins TTX shock install and steering damper

At long last I can finally post the rear TTX install and steering damper install, however, for the fork upgrade your gonna have to wait a little longer sadly! image 1 shows the bike, a European spec 2008 model, the shock being used is a brand new 2009 revision TTX36 direct from Ohlins (image 005 and 008), as you can see, the rebound and compression damper adjusters have changed from the 2007 spec version, its much easier to adjust with fingers now! also note the preload adjuster uses an 8mm T-bar wrench to adjust now, no need for the expensive and extra weight of the hydraulic preload adjuster .
Removal of the old shocker is straight forward, no major issues to contend with however I would suggest using an air wrench to wind off both the bottom and top pivot nuts, also lift the tank for access (Images 0011 and 0013), remove the 3mm spacer from the top shock mount bracket, the old shock will then release and just gently pull it out.
The new TTX now drops into the swing arm from above, just be careful with the frame paint, its fragile as is, let along belting it with £900's worth of shock, push the top mounting back in place one the shock is in its space and THEN slip the shock into the to mount, push in the top bolt, then the lower bolt for the bottom mount, torque them up and your in business!
This TTX came with a 95 kilo spring tailored to the customers specifics it was then just a simple case of setting the sag, and its finishedIMG_0001.jpg

Might be a stupid question, but does the rear-end collapse when you remove the shock?

you use a central bike stand that pivots with adaptors from the rear swing arm bolt holes

Rob, where does the stand support the bike? I have a Powerstands universal rear stand that will work on various locations on the swingarm and was wondering if it would work.

the stand fits a multitude of bike, however, they all fit in the same area, the stand is U-shaped (well actually a square U if you get my drift) the stand is led on its side, slid under the bike and then pulled up so each vertical part of the 'U' comes up either side of the bike, in the top ends of the U verticals are threads which screw inwards (with the aid of adaptors) into the swing arm bolt section of the frame..take a look at the link http://www.abbastands.co.uk/
