Exclamation '99 R6 - Need help asap!

Hello everyone, I just registered a few mins ago, but im in desperate need of help. I bought a modded '99 R6 on the 19th last month (bad idea!) The first problem with the bike was the battery. It died on me while driving to my house from Miami on the Interstate! No biggie, just changed the battery. then about 2 weeks ago, my throttle cable snapped on me (i was parked :P)
just got that replaced yesterday. When I went to go pick it up from my friends house (he replaced the cable) I tried starting my bike, but the attery was discharged (battery was less than 2 weeks old!) so we just jump started it, and it ran good. but when I moved the throttle it didnt want to go over 6k rpm's then it slowly dropped down, then died. My friend noticed that the choke cable was disconnected, and said that my bike was flooding with gas because, maybe when the cable disconnected that it left the choke thingy open. So today I took off the air box and everything, searched for about hrs trying to find where the damn choke cable connects to. I recently found it (thanks to these forums) so I reconnected everything then tried to start her up. for some reason it takes a long time of holding the start button and alot of gas to even have her close to starting, it eventually started, but didnt go over 1k rpms (It sounded deeper than normal too). Then it just shut off, I saw a small amount of smoke escape through the batery area(oh, i just got a new battery today aswell) so I waited and decided to jumpstart my bke with my car, instead of kiling my 3rd battery lol. I hooked it up, than I went to push the button, and nothing happened. I can here the low click that comes from the battery area, but nothing else. I really need to know how I can fix this POS lol

I think you got a lemon . But I would start with the carbs. Don't buy a new battery every time get it charged for free at an autozone and maybe trying the regulator plug. Look it up on the fourm

one the carbs could be gumed up sea foam is good to fix this
two the fule pump may be bad it is on the right side of your bike under the batt

did you try to adjust the idle ? ( it's on the right side above the clutch cover ) with the airbox off did you check to see if all the butterfly valves are equal ? check the tension on the throttle cable ? spark plugs may be fouled out ? in regards to the battery...check the charging system...think of a car having an alternator...your looking for the regulator rectifier...check it ? also go to "how to guides" in the forum area. go download the R6 service/maintenace/repair manual. this will guide you step by step on everything. if you decide to print out the manual like i did...be prepared to feed the printer some paper and have plenty of ink in the cartridge. its about 400+ pages. but it's worth having. good luck !

My 01 r6 had the same battery problem with not staying charged and it kept killing my battery and It ended up being my regular rectifier. My mechanic changed mine for a gsxr 100 which was bigger and gave my battery more power or something. I've hadn't had a problem since untill I had somewhat of the same problem with my throttle when it stops at 6000 I took it back to my mechanic and it was a fuel line or something that was to small to handle all of the fuel that's needed. I can't remember where he said the fuel line was but my mechanic said these problems where real frequent problems an he used to work at my local yamaha shop so I would try and hook up with them they should be able to let u know more but I know for sure the regulator recitfier is causing the battery problem.

You should try the R/R. I have just took her out from the shop and had to change it, plus the stator which keeps giving high voltage to the R/R and then to the Battery, so the stator burned the R/R with the low and high peaks of voltage, and you what was the problem? The F...ing pair of bulbs, that stuppidly replaced the original ones (12 V 55w/60w) for a "better ones" (blue 12 V 90w/100W)...believe me a very expensive choise. The pair of blue bulbs demanded to much Voltage and W to my stator and literally burned it, and so my two batteries that replaced thinking that those two were the problem. So you should check your electrical system, if you turn on your babe and you have in your garage a pocket tester, check your voltage making someone help you keep your throttle in to 5000 rpm and test your battery if it gives you 14 V your stator it's OK but if it gives you 13 V and going down to 12 V, your problem could be in: 1. Your R/R and 2. (worst case) your Stator. I had to replace both...expensive s...t man...but at the end my bike goes even better, my engine is not going down and up in the tach..So good luck man and make sure you check the carb's and the gas pump. Don't worry man is the price of our toys....
