Default How to install Leo Vince full exhaust

Here is a quick write up on how to install the Leo Vince full exhaust.

If you have any doubts about your ability to do this install yourself, DON'T! I had reservations about installing the exhaust myself, but I'm really glad I did. I really want to thank GPMotoParts.com because they were super helpful with the ordering and the packing was amazing. But the most impressive thing to me was that I gave them a call when I got a little stuck with the install and they were very helpful. After sending them pictures of my install, we figured out I had made a bonehead mistake (to be pointed out later).

The install is pretty straight forward, but I will point out some things that may trip you up. I won't be covering how to remove your fairings or removing the stock exhaust as there are already how to's out there for that already.

So without further ado...

Here is the box that the exhaust comes in. I was surprised by how small the box was.

This thing is so beautiful.

Power Commander III and BMC Race filter going in as well.

So the first step is to remove the fairing and your stock exhaust. Here is a how to by maxoverfred: http://www.r6messagenet.com/forums/s...+stock+exhaust

Next install the new bushings making sure the side with the larger ridge faces down. Install the flanges and hold them in place with the nuts, but do not tighten the nuts just yet. Insert the left primary manifold into the bushings.

The green arrow above points to a screw that needs to be remove to access one of the nuts that secures a flange. Just remember to put it back after the install. The pink arrow points to the holes on the flanges that the springs will be attached to. I suggest that you hang the springs on the holes before you insert the manifolds as it is difficult to maneuver as the space is pretty tight.

You can see that the springs have been installed. There is a tool that helps with the installation of the springs... it looks like a miniature coat hanger. Just hook one end of the spring and pull it into place. After both manifolds have been installed, tighten all the nuts to 12-15 ft/lbs torque.

Here I have installed the secondary manifolds. They are the two Y shaped pieces that look identical. MAKE SURE that you install the two pieces on the correct sides. If you look at the pieces you will notice that there is a slight angle to the pieces. When installed, they should angle down instead of up. This is very important, as the can will not fit later since the angles are thrown off. I learned this the hard way! Install the springs as shown on both sides.

Next put on the the final manifold. Here I have loosely positioned the final manifold. The green arrow points to the lambda probe. Leo Vince supplies a rubber plug if you don't want to connect this. But if you do, I suggest you twist the wires counterclockwise about 5-6 times so when you screw the probe on, the wires are not twisted and strained. I haven't done so in the pictures to follow, but I would cover the wires with electrical tape. Secure the final manifold with the springs.

Here the can has been slipped onto the final manifold and secured with the spring.

You should have removed the rearset when you uninstalled the stock exhaust. There is a bracket that needs to be installed along with the carbon fiber sleeve that goes around the can. Note that the rearset is mounted at only two points on the frame. Since the bracket is installed at the lower mounting point, the upper point requires that a spacer to be installed so that the rearset sits evenly.

Here is what the everything should look like after the can is installed. If you noticed, I broke my foot peg so you could have a clearer view of the mounting bracket. Well, that was easy.

And after the fairings are back on:

I installed the European R6 map with Stock air filter no air restrictor, O2 sensor unplugged off the Leo Vince website and it seems to work very well. I will make videos and post them soon.

hey man nice write up
i have a few questions for you

do you happen to know if you can get that canister in a slip on
do you know what size piping runs into the canister
is the angle coming out the same as the factory muffler?

misterporkbuns, good how-to

I installed the same system (titanium muffler) 2 months ago.

How about the distance from the muffler to the rear tyre?

I'm not sure if this specific canister is available as a slip on... I would check http://www.leovinceusa.com/ ... looks like there are similar slip ons. As long as you get the appropriate model for your bike, everything should fit fine...

Pacorosa, as far as the the distance from the muffler to the rear tire, I would say that its the same as stock, as it sits in the exact same spot, although its does not extend as far back as the stock can does. Did you have some alignment issues?

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the install, and I'll try to help out.

That canister is not made in Slipon form... only for the full systems.

I just finished the install along with the powercommander and started 'er up. I either pissed off the neighbors or made them envious. Sounds amazing.

For anyone looking into this exhaust - solomotoparts has a great price on it and free shipping.

Thanks mrporkbuns for the write up. Definitely helped. Now I gotta get up the balls to attempt the smog blockoff plates.
