Exclamation How To: GP Shift Stock 03-05 rearsets

Ok, This is my first attempt at a How to post and my first bike mod Ive done myself. Basicly if anyone wants a good way to GP shift the 03-05 R6 using OEM parts and NOT bending the shift rod heres how. Pics will follow when I get time to take them.

You will need a dremmel and 4-6 washers for this project.

1. Start by removing the rearsets, shift rod and shift arm off of the bike.

2. On the shift arm remove the rod joint and attach it to the opposite side, take care not to scratch the bearing. A little Lithium grease wont hurt it.

3. Invert the shift arm and stick it back on the shift shaft.

4. Test fit the rearset, put 2 to 3 washers between the frame and rearset to push it out. This prevents the rod from binding up and preventing the shift. You should find that during the down shift the rod makes contact with the heal guard.

5. Mark the location where the rod makes contact and remove the rearset, then separate the heal guard.

6. take the dremmel and grind a small notch in the heal guard where the rod will be next to so that it doesn't stick. This doesn't usually take more than 5 min.

7. Tighten the bolts and there you go!

8. get on your bike and .
