Default How To: Install HID's on 00-02 R6

Hi, this is my write up for my 01 R6 since I had problems even find info on bulb size for this year R6. You're more then welcome to make this a sticky.

Ok, first off...our bulbs size is an "H4" and the kit I'm installing are GoldenEye HID's from XenonRider on ebay, who I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone.

Here is basically what you get "No Cutting or Dremel Tools" were used in my whole install, no need for it.

1) The bulb and note that I've already slipped the wires through the rubber cover.

2)The Ballast

Now obvisouly before you start any job with electrical work, disconnect the main power sourse which in this case is your battery underneath your seat, there will be two screws holding it in place on the rear sections. You'll need an allign wrech to get off.

This is what it should look like when everything you need to be removed has been taken off. It's the same on both sides

This is what it should look like after you put the bulb in the housing with the wires ran throught the rubber cover. (Nothing connected yet)

Connect the female connectors to the male connectors (can't do this wrong)

Connect the other wires (black and red) into the OEM wiring harness. The OEM has 3 prong holes but you only need the two supplied. Put the black wire with the black wire and the red wire on the opposite prong which should have a yellow strip as shown here

Connect the whole kit now into the Ballast

Now where are the spots I found to be the only safe way to put the ballast into our bike.

Left Side

Right Side

And this is what it should look like when you are done. No wires showing anywhere and again no cutting holes or modifing to get this to work and look as if a pro installed it.

Left Side

Right Side

And this is the reward @ 3 different angles.

And here are 2 night shots

Hope this helps someone in the future. Thanks

I'm not sure to be honest, if it's the same frame and styling I would guess so.

Very good how-to. I have a few ?'s. How much did the kit cost and what color did you get. It looks like 6000k to me and they definately kick ass.
