Default How To: Install OEM CCT

How to replace the oem(auto) Cam Chain Tensioner(CCT):

The last CCT how to died and pictures deleted. Being a new member and benefiting from this forum, I thought I'd contribute! here you go!

Needed for install:
New CCT Part# 4XV-12210-00
New CCT Gasket
Allen Wrench Set
Phillips Screwdriver
Small Flathead screwdriver
10mm standard wrench

1) Remove the right fairing. Remove a total of 9 screws including two in the front wheel well.

2) Remove the black triangle cover on the frame just above the right fairing. This will come in handy when replacing CCT screws.

3) Unbolt Idle screw bracket

4) Find the CCT. Refer to the picture above. It will look like your new one just right of idle knob. Yes there is a hose right in front of it, and no don't remove it. It won't be a problem, the largest tool you'll be getting back there is a small allen wrench.

5) Remove CCT 2 screws with allen wrench and set screws aside; we'll be reusing them. Pull the CCT out and trash it.

6) Clean surface around the hole the CCT came out of. No oils or old gasket should be left. Be sure not to let any debris fall in.

7) Always replace gasket, it's worth the $1.50. Slide new gasket onto new CCT. The CCT should have come with a tap inserted on top from keeping the spring loaded piston from extending. KEEP THIS TAB IN.

8) Using the screws from step 5, install the new CCT. Notice the word "up" on the CCT. make sure the gasket is aligned when doing so.

9) After tightend, gently and slow pull tab. If possible pull out just enough to rotate by hand nice and easily. If pulled out all the way, you'll hear a snap because it is spring loaded. Its been told doing this might make jump a tooth(bad), but it seems way to weak to do so. Mine snapped and had no problem, and even yamaha says you are suppose to just pull out tab.

Close up
10) Where the "tab" was on the CCT, screw in gasketed bolt that came with new CCT into it. Bolt back Idle screw. Bolt on triangle cover. Bolt on fairing.

Start your bike up. keep your thumb on shut off just incase you hear any odd noises, SHUT OFF!!

let me know with any comments you have! Thanks!!
