Default Looking to get into the sport

Ive been looking to get into the racing sport for some time now, and just want some tips from those that are in the sport on how to get in it, and maybe some tips to make it as pain free as possible.

1) Take a MSF course in your area, before you ever buy a bike.

2) Get some proper gear so if you dump it, you dont get seriously hurt - Helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, and pants.. . in that order. For the love of God, wear your helmet.

3) Some might disagree w/me, but dont buy a 100 hp bike for your first bike. These things are so easy to get away from you if you make a mistake. . .. You'd be much better off buying a used Ninja 250. Ride it, drop it, and make your newbie mistakes, then sell it the next season if you're tired of it .. . You'll get most of your money back on it. Then when you move up to a more powerful bike, you'll not have to worry so much about destroying it, and you'll be a better rider for having learned on the smaller bike.

Id only agree with the Ninja 250 type if you never rode a motorcycle in your life. I have seen guys who were really good on dirt bikes, never touched a street bike get right on a litre bike and kick ass.

So it still depends on your history on what type of bike you buy. Plus this person never stated they have never ridden or that they dont have a bike. They want to get into racing not buying a first bike.

Please clarify what your position is....
