I just built an 07 R6 track bike, it has a full Graves Exhaust on it. I yanked the exup valve out, the exup motor, and exup relay. (I did this on my 05 R1's too).

The problem, your going to get a engine light plus a code. I think its #22 on the R6. Its #29 on the R1.

I have to check my manual for sure. DO yourself a favor and search the site for manuals. I searched Yahoo and it brought me to a R6messagenet.net link that has all the user manuals for all years R6's. (also the YEC Racing manual to help me tune my YEC ECU).

If you dont mind the engine light and code (when your motors off, you will see the code). The reason your previous owner didnt remove the valve was to prevent this.

I have spoken with Gravesports about this for my R1 and even got a chance to look at the 05 Graves Superstock R1 and they had a piece of black tape over the engine light so it wouldnt bug the rider (I did the same).

There are kits that you can buy to "bypass" or trick your ECU thinking there is still the exup installed. They cost about $100 and you plug it in to the connector for your exup. This eliminates the code and engine light problem.

I did this on my 05 Track R1 and my 07 track R6, plus I have the exup removed on my 05 R1 street commuter. Electrical tape over the engine light.

Your call. You can remove the cables and still keep the motor installed.

All I did was remove the cables, and left the motor, as it's pretty hidden. This shouldn't cause any codes or 'check engine lights', and the cables are not hanging out, looking ugly. My .02

I didn't want to deal with the light...if it's always on, how will I know if something else goes wrong? The motor was too light to fret about leaving it on (my track bike). I just took the cables off and left the motor there.

I still have my stock pipe on and i was getting the check engine light all the time, code 18 for the valve, so today i just disconnected the cables, no more CE light, i'm just decided to get a full system so whenever i install it ill take the cables out all the way, theyre just hanging out of the way for now.

You may want to check the position of your valve. IF you disconnected the cables, there isnt anything keeping the valve open. Basically you may be restricting your flow. I removed an exup valve motor from my R1 and then safety wired the valve butterfly all the way open. Is your bike running hot? I havent seen the R6 Valve yet since i built the R6 piece by piece I never had the stock can... Just bought a Graves SS Full pipe.
