Default check engine light on after sitting in long traffic.

was riding home today and got caught in huge traffic. bike sat idling most of the way and speeds reaching no more then 10-15 mphs. i then noticed my check engine light stayed on when i stop and goes away when i accelerate. could this be because i was idling too long in traffic draining the battery? becasue when i got home i turned the bike off and it won't restart. i did notice the whole time i had my high beam on.

Have you tride not sitting in traffic? that might be a problem. try going 50 to 60 inbetween cars and we might not have this problem. Girley mens engine lights come on and the rest of us dont have that problem.

^ man that is kinda harsh

especially since lane splitting isnt legal in almost every state except california

your fan should kick on at about 214 or so if not then you may want to check the relay

the check engine light will come on if the bike begins to overheat which i think is somewhere around 228

iot could also be low voltage... at idle the bike is not charging the battery and running the bike at idle for extended periods of time with your accessories on is not good for the battery or the stator
