i know when i have done track days that i dont give a crap what my guages read. i know my rpm based on noise and the as the only thing i care about guage-wise when riding on a track. any other visual information could definately be distracting i would think. maybe for racing there would be some use with lap timing and that sort of thing. for on hiway/street riding it would definately be pretty cool.

I've done some work on GPS systems and I'd imagine that this would add something like $300 to the price of a helmet. Not to mention some sort of subscription fee for using the GPS satellites.

I’ve got a better Idea. Why not add a blue tooth transmitter to the bike and have a receiver in the helmet? This way you can get speed, RPM, or whatever you wanted on the HUD.

Your idea is good Rama, but bluetooth has a pretty limited range. It would be better to have a transmitter capable of being picked up by others as well.. like if you're on the track and your crew (like any of us have one).. could monitor your bike and see the same info you are. If it tied in with the central CPU on the bike you could get all the info you wanted. I think I'd rather save a few bucks and skip the gps.. go with just the bike info on the heads-up.

thatd be sick, except how would it be hooked up to your electronics. it would have to be wireless RF because i wouldnt want to wreck with wires attached to my helmet.

it sounds like it uses GPS to calculate your speed. i dont know about the gear indicator and the rest though.
