Default Deals Gap trip.. where to stay???

Two years ago I stayed at the Deals Gap Resort which was great except it was a little hard on our Explorer towing the bikes thru the curvy roads so I was wanting to stay somewhere close to Asheville, NC but I'm not sure of any good places there. Anyone have any suggestions. I found some place called Maggie Valley Inn.

I stayed in Ashville, and I would highly recommend against staying there. The group I went with chose some cookie cutter hotel right off off some random highway exit near Ashville (~70-75/night, including their high hotel tax). Deal's Gap didn't feel nearly as close because we had to deal with crappy traffic every day to get to the good roads. And having to ride back at the end of the day was a pain in the ass as well. Supposedly, Ashville has some nightlife. You better stay right down town where the nightlife actually is if you want that. I've been to DG a number of times, and this was by far the worst place to stay.

Your best bet is to stay somewhere close to Robbisville. It will provide good access to twisties, and if you want to buy a coke/food after 8pm, you will not have to drive 15 miles to the closest gas station.

I have never stayed at the actual resort at DG. Last I heard the place is a dump, and it is very over priced. Their 'restaurant' has some of the worst food I've ever had.

There are a ton of places over there.....I like staying at the Punkin Center Motorcycle resort when I don't stay in Knoxville with a bud. It's literally 10 miles from the gap but on the TN side. Jody and his wife are super cool and are fun to just hang out with in the evenings. But, since you want to stay in NC....that prolly isn't the answer you wanted .

I have stayed at the Micro motel right in town for the last 3 or 4 years and always been happy with it, I think I was about $65 a night last year
