Default 03 R1 pricing?

I was thinking about unloading my 05 (Raven) R6 and getting a friends 03 Silver R1 for 6k. The bike is completely stock, never been down, and has I think 13k on the odometer.

Is it worth 6k? This is just a thought and justed wanted to run this by the board and see what people have to say.

Now for my bike:

Vance and hines S/O, Power commander usb, zero gravity db smoked wind screen, motivation bar ends, motivation no cut frame sliders, motivation clutch slider, LP rear spools, rocket exhaust hanger, and Yamaha rear cowl. Bike has 6k on the odometer.

Now would I be able to sell it for what he is asking for or something close to it?

Bad deal IMO.
wait until you can add 1K to that and get an 04+ R1.

I figured the 04-05 R1 would garner the votes in both looks and price. I guess I will be saving my pennies or look into something else.

If I happen upon a 04-05 R1 what price rage should I be looking at if the above conditions apply?

I don't know where you are located, but $6,000 is a fair deal on an 03 as you described. I'm sure he could even get more. They go for a bit more than that around here while the 04+ models normally run in the $7.5K range.

05 R6's are also going for about $6K in my area. I think blue book is even $6.4K in perfect condition. So it could be very close. You'd have to sell it for that, of course.

And 02-03 R1's are great bikes. Much better tq. down low and a great chassis.

Thats the kinda input I need to hear. Sucks that there wasn't a black option for the 03 like the raven option on later bikes. I'll keep looking into it....... Just saw the FZ1 and looks interesting.

Do you do a lot of longer rides/commuting? If you do the FZ1 might be a great bike for you. A ton of power with a much more comfortable riding position. Something else to think about.

I do about 60-70 miles a day commuting back and forth. I usually do rides to Utah, cali, or Arizona for camp outs. I was also looking into a daytona 675 and a few others.

Pretty sure FZ1's use the same engine as the 02-03 R1's. Maybe slightly detuned, but basically the same.

See Pancho knows. I would love to have an 02-03 in race trim. They really are great bikes.
