Thumbs down New Ontario "Racing" Law

I have not been caught yet.(Knock on wood) But after what I have seen on TV, and heard from others, I seems that according to society, we are a worse threat than impaired drivers, or gun yielding criminals.
This law has just made it open season for sport bikes.
I think the best thing to do is if you see a cop, pull over and park until he goes away. They haven't found a way to get us when we're parked...yet.
YOU SUCK MCQUINTY!!!!

Yeah I guess they impounded over 200 vehicles in the first week.

I went out for a little rip on saturday and I dont think I went over 20 KPH over the limit anywhere. Just not worth it.

Might turn the 6 into a track-only weapon for 08.

I for one think its a great law...
There is a time and a place for speeding and the highway is not it...

You're preaching to the choir, man. You're right, there is a time and place for everything and I agree that Hwy 401 is NOT it.

However there are some deserted rural roads in my area where one can easily (and safely) do 110 in a 60 or 130 in a 80 and it could hardly be called wreckless, dangerous OR racing.

I agree with it 100%. Go race on the track and then see what you've got. Anyone can go 50+ in a straight line, now add some corners. So for all those who are against it - perhaps you might one day be in the unfortunate position of knowing someone who was killed or critically injured because some punk decided to let out some testosterone on innocent people. Who cares if the goofball injures himself - but majority of the time the guy minding his/her own business is the victim. Until you have family or friends who are no longer here - you will NEVER relate to it. I love to drive/ride fast, and with my experience of 30 yrs license and thousands of miles on a track - it's still a law for the safely of others and racing is for "controlled" areas -not the highway or in aome 60 km zone where some kid can run out. Nail the suckers and stick it to them, or as they did in USA - build race tracks specifically for the "street racers" and subsidize the costs from our taxes. Then again, pointing a gun at someone for kicks and blowing their head off is equally as big a problem (maybe bigger) that need to be addressed as well. So much for "Toronto the good".

So my desolate road out in the County is off limits then?

Please keep in mind that I am not talking about residential areas, school areas, or roads that are in any way high volume. Just well known, familiar rural roads that I have been riding for 20 years.

I am in no way condoning wreckless or careless driving or riding. In fact, I am the guy who drives down the 401 at 105 kph. But come on...that little uninhabited stretch next to the farmer's field at 130 in a posted 80 is risking the general public's life and limb?

I'm just askin, is all. I am a pretty responsible adult with many miles under my belt as well.

well liberals found another way to steal money from us, every little 50 over or stunt or anything of that sort will cost you $2000 plus all the other costs. Now i guess thats how they are trying to earn all that money that they stole over the years. Now if you ask me or most of the bikers i know, this stupid law promotes running and not stopping for cops. Either way if you stop or run you face pretty much same penalty. If you get convicted of the 50 over and don't provide a good explanation for it you loose you license for 10 years. Well than why stop for cops, most bikers will say they rather take their chances, and from now on me too. I pulled over for a cop who saw some idiots passing me on a hwy doing 250km/h and since he could not catch up to them he gave me a ticket 49 over just because i was on the same road at the same time as them. Well than if thats how they like to play than F>>>K them, like local stunters up here say F T P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will never again pull over for those idiots!

Politicians only care about two things... getting elected ( in this case by buying the law and order vote with this foolish law) and stealing our money through taxes to misappropriate to political supporters etc.

AFC, it is probably futile to explain our country ways to the city folks they just don't understand the difference in population density out in the sticks.

and spare us the "track" pep talk
nobody here at one point or another hasnt exceeded the speed limit on a public road/hwy

120 is the typical hwy speed
how often is everyone here doin 140 following traffic from time to time?
thats only 10 away

The racing law is not just doing 50 over!! You can preach all you want about how great the track is. I know it's great, but this law has been left open to any P.O.s interpretation.
Gecko, say you're out on your Fat Boy with a group. The group you're with pulls away , and you're held up for some reason(putting on your gloves, stalled, etc...) Now your group is already at 60/80kmh. When you accelerate the catch up with the group, you're racing.
Bettleman, if you're at the lights and you pull away at a quicker rate than the rest of the traffic at the light. Guess what. You're racing!
50 over is not the only issue here. It's the fact that the Police are now granted to be judge and jury at the road side. Even if you go to court and are let off. You have still had your bike impounded, and lost your license for 7- 10 days and that will remain on you record.
This is bad news for every motorcycle enthusiast out there.
