Default Almost accident question

Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I am in the process of buying a 06 Raven R6. I have a question for you guys. I am 31 yrs old and have been riding dirt bikes and race quads since the age of 8. But I don't have to much seat time on a street bike, I'd say less then 200 miles. Heres my question, a few year back I was taking a guys brand new GSXR 750 for a spin. As I am coming back into the nieghborhood there was an 1/8 mile stretch of rode so I clutched the bike and started what I thought was a pretty decent wheelie. Well here is were the problem started. As soon as the front wheel touched the ground the bike went into a vicious wobble (side to side). I thought for sure it was going to buck me off. Somehow I regained control of it or it regained control of its self. When I gave the bike back to the guy I didn't mention that it happened, but I am sure he saw me shaking. (I was scared shitless). Now that I am going to get a bike, I can't quit thinking about it and wondering why it happened.

Does anyone have a reason why this would happen from a seamingly routine wheelie?
