Default comressed fracture verabrae

hi all, im just after some honest advise. i dont know that many people with bikes so i thought i would post it up on hear. about april time i came off my first bike which was an r6 (done the equivelent of the msf course) and had a compressed fracture of my vertabrae. i was in hospital for 3 weeks and in a back brace for 2 months. i have seen the doctor recently and he has told me im fully healed and my back is no weaker than before my accident even though i still get the odd twinge and ache. i thinking of getting another bike but something like a fazer for a few years. i was just wondering would anyone else get another bike in my position or would i be being a bit daft getting another. any advise would be great good or bad. sorry for the rant
thanks

Hey man, everyone goes down sooner or later, some end up with some serious injuries. But it's really up to you, how comfortable are you getting back on a bike? I don't think it's stupid at all, many, many people have jumped back on bikes after brutal operations/injuries. Just be sure not to be afraid to spend a lot of $$ on gear before anything else-It really does make a difference. Some don't really understand how dangerous our hobby really is and ride like there's no tomorrow.

But again, it's up to you man, i don't think it's dumb to jump back on, take it really slow if you feel you have to but in my case, i'm obsessed with bikes and can't imagine what i would do without the amazing feeling of riding and if i was in your case, i would probably get back (easier said in my position, i know) on because riding is one of the few things that makes me happy.

Yeah, it's really a personal decision. Riding is a great risk and you have to decide how much risk you want expose yourself to. If the doctor says your healed up, I'd invest in proper gear and start off slowing, perfecting your form. If you notice that your back can't handle certain aspects of riding, either stay away from what causes pain or decide then to quit riding.

When I wrecked, even with all my rash and pain, the next day I was looking for new parts.

it's all up to you. If you are comfortable enough to ride again. Take it one step at a time, and ensure you have proper gear. good luck with your decision.

It's personal. But if you decide to come back to riding, perhaps consider changing your riding habits and/or maybe signing up for some advanced riding classes or a track day.

Why would it be any more daft than getting the first bike? Just cause you got hurt doesn't put you at greater risk now.
