Default "Oh my, I didn't see you.."

So it went a lil something like this:

*BANG* (tuck and roll)

Lady: Oh my god, are you alright?

Me: I think I may have a few broken fingers, do you have your insurance information?

Lady: Um.. yes, but YOU hit ME!?

Me: Why yes, yes I did.. AFTER YOU TURNED IN FRONT OF ME WHILE I WAS PASSING THROUGH MY GREEN LIGHT

Lady: Oh my, I didn't see you.. where on Earth did you come from?

Me: How about 'DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOU for $400, Alex.'

Typical scenario.. I'm cruising east bound @ a comfortable 55 mph, approaching an intersection in which I have the green light. 'Lady', facing west bound, was stopped at said light and preparing to make a left turn. Apparently, she felt the most opportune time to do so was as I was entering the intersection. A collision ensued.

Somehow she managed to "not see me", despite me switching to high beam to alert her of my approach. The result, a VERY sore hand (luckily not broken) and a bike that ended up in more 'pieces' than Ashlee Simpson. I took a couple home with me as souvenirs.

The police wrote an accident report, obviously found her at fault and issued her a citation. At least that will make the process a no-brainer as far as our respective insurance companies are concerned. Unfortunately, I don't believe the bike sustained any frame damage. So, I'm sure they will have it repaired instead of replaced.

Hopefully, the claim will be handled expeditiously. I'd like to at least be back on two wheels by the time Spring rolls around. I think thats a realistic expectation.

What makes matters worse is that she supposedly is a rider, too -- Harley. Ah well.. it could have been a LOT worse. At least I was able to get up and walk away.

In any event, I'll be heading down to my insurance agents office tomorrow to get the ball rolling on the paper work. I'll also try to swing by the tow lot and get some pictures of the bike. *STAY TUNED*

Stunaz:

* evening cruise on bike brought to a halt by careless driver
* she was found at fault for collision and ticketed by police
* no broken bones
* broken bike
* pics and insurance updates to come

Damn, that sucks. I'm glad to hear you're ok and hopefully you'll get a new bike out of the mix. Sounds to me like it couldn't have worked out better as far as crashes go. Mighty fortunate to walk away and all the better that all the proper action was taken immediately after the accident.

If you got in a head on your bike is probably totaled, does not take frame damage to write off a bike.
