Angry Joy Ride Turns Ugly

This past summer I was at a party on my 2005 r6 and had accidently left the key in the ignition! Some asshole thought it would be ok to take it on a joy ride! Less than a quarter mile later my bike was in ruins and the kid nowhere to be found! He was caught by police two days later when he arrived at the hospital to be treated for his exstensive road rash! My bike was uninsured at the time due to my neglegence! Now this sorry bastard is trying to cough up $5500 for his stupidity! Three lessons to learn - 1)Always have your bike insured! 2) Always Remove your key 3) And Never touch someone else's bike! NEVER! This is whats Left! Im mid way done with repairs!

Well, it sucks, but it's pretty much all your fault since you left the damn key in the bike. I wouldn't have taken it to a party in the first place...

beer+idiots+bike=disaster. A guy I knew took his to a party, had the steering locked and everything but some guy decided it would be cool to sit on it and tipped it over. Cracked his upper fairing, dented his exhaust and broke his mirror.

Just cuz you go to a party don't necessary mean that you HAVE to drink..

So he forgot to take the key out and it's his fault? I don't get it.. If anything the guy who took it for a joyride is the idiot and all the blame should go to him.....

^ Exactly. Sorry to hear that but it's a lesson learned for the future though, never take your bike to that atmosphere.

+1!

Key in the ignition... it happens. I actually was walking back to my place from class one day and saw a nice R1 with it's headlights on and no one was around. I walked over, wrote the kid a note with my cell number, and took his keys lest someone actually take the bike, too.
