Default 2nd crash, not so lucky

I live one mile from work and began commutting about a month ago. Well Friday morning I took off onto the main road which is always empty thankfully. I made my way over the wet white lines, as I pulled into the middle lane my bike slammed me down to my left side on a right hand turn. I got up dazed and confused as to what happen. My shoulder was killing me, I stood my bike up, turned around at the first light as I was only 30 seconds from my house. Went inside took my gear off to find my collar bone was stickin up under the skin. Called my dad, who works with me 1 mile from my house, so he took me to the er pretty quick, there wasnt much they could do but put me in some slings. I wasn't driving stupid or unusual from the way I normally drive, just one of those freak things. My bike was ok, back fairings are damaged, sliders saved the rest of the bike. My foot peg bent in half. Ill have pics up later. Still recovering and takin pain pills.

Friggin' OW! You rode back home with a snapped collarbone?

Glad you're otherwise okay. I hate those stripes in the rain...

Those stripes are definitely tricky..especially the ones around hospitals around here..They have huge white ones in the road and even when they are dry they are dangerous.

Let the collar bone heal and get back on!

They just put you in a sling and sent you home?

Are they going to do surgery? Looks to me like you need some pins or that collarbone is NEVER going to heal right.

The common treatment for a broken clavicle is a sling worn for 4-8 weeks. Surgery is usually required only if the break is located near the shoulder area.

Nickk6, good luck with the healing!
