Old ladies in Suburbans!!!!
Well, last Wednsday at about 5:20 I pulled out from getting gas at the local town and country when an old lady decided to try and beat traffic to make a lefty. The short of it is, I saw her she didn't see me. I was almost completely stopped when she hit me. I slid the bike sideways to a stop just as she hit me in the left leg and left side front tire. The bike doesn't look that bad but the forks, front tire/wheel, break caliper and farings will have to be replaced. Had all my gear on but still came out of it w/ a broken ankle.
The worst part of it is the police were not helpful at all. Oh they wrote up a report but didn't even give her a ticket for failure to yeild!!!! They said the report will show that she was at fault but thats it. Didn't even bother to help me get my bike outta the street! I had to call a buddy to bring his trailer and my bike laid in the middle of 5 oclock traffic until he got there!!!!! Assholes I tell ya. I would have posted pics but it just doesn't look that bad to tell ya the truth. I'm on some pain meds so sorry for any incomplete sentences or grammar! haha

damn sorry to hear that. i wouldn't have left though unless she was issued a ticket. chances are you will get screwed here because a ticket is used for insurance purposes as designation of guilt. if the police tried to do that to me after i got hit they would have to arrest me too because i would flip a nut at that situation. hope all goes well for you though and you heal up. fight this one if you can, i would call the police station asap and do some bitching.

^ wait a second. You mean to tell me that you have a broken ankle and the police did not call for medical support? You can find them liable for that. Call a lawyer now.

Yeah I agree sounds like a lot of negligence there. I would be pissed. To add on to the thread title, out of the times I've almost been hit well over half of them were ladies in SUVs. I gave one a dirty look and she gave me that "oh, sorry about that" wave as if it was no big deal that I was almost killed.

The medical response did show up ONLY b/c they were enroute to another accident just down the street and got confused! Fak!!!!!!!! I thought I had jsut sprung my ankle so I told them I didn't wanna go to the hospital but later when to the er b/c it was hurting worse and worse.
I called my lawyer this morning and I'm waiting for him to get back to me. Damn I thought it would be ok as long as the report shows her at fault? I hope I'm not screwed on this. Going to get an MRI on my knee ( that I had scoped two years ago) this afternoon. Its all burised up and poppin like crazy. Fak!!!!!!!!!!!! My baby is just sitting in the garage leaking brake fluid into a pan.

Well............the ol' ladies inusrance co. did an interview w/me over the phone on Monday. Right away they said they accept liability since my story matched hers and she told them it was her fault. They asked me to get the estimate on the bike but didn't even offer to have it towed there. Should they do this? I mean I can load it on my trailer, ( my buddies can anyway ) and take it in but shouldn't they? Anyway, I'm not too worried about getting it there. They haven't even said any thing abt pain and suffering to me. Should I bring this up or will it look like I'm being greedy.
Still no word on my MRI of my knee but I'm sure they are waiting for my follow appmnt on my ankle this Tuesday. They did offer me a rental but I declined since I have other cars.
Here's a wierd question though. MY insurance ( with whom I only have liability and uninsured with) is insisting they will pay me for my time outta work and all my medical bills? What's up w/ that? I already fot the forms in the mail from them. Its progressive btw. Any insight on that?

Usually your insurance will cover the bills and out of work time at no expense to you(will not raise your rates at all since you were not at fault). At the end of it all when everything is settled, the other person's insurance will also pay out on your medical and work missed(most of the time). Since the bills are double paid you will get a check back.
This does not effect you at all because your insurance will go after their insurance for the money they paid out.
