Default First lay-down on the street

Happened about a week ago. Nobody's fault but my own. Had some abnormal wear on my front tire. The bike was purchased used so I was kinda worried that the forks were not totally straight. I had a spare 208 in the garage and had it mounted. On the way out of my house I was going down my street. The guy who mounted it said it was a PITA since it was a re-mount and that I should test it out a little before hitting it hard. So leaving my house I did a little swerving and it held fine, gassed it a bit and it was great, but as soon as I grabbed the front brakes the wheel went full to the left and lowsided out from under me.

It was in my neighborhood (leaving it i mean) and was going 35mph, so nothing major. The bike came out great actually. The ONLY damage was the following:

Crankcase cover
Left slider
Left spool
Left turn signal
Left Mirror

NOTHING ELSE!
I was amazed. I was wearing an HJC AC-11, Fieldsheer Mach 1 jacket, Cortech HDX gloves, regular jeans and some Vans. I came out unscathed other than a scrape on my knee. I am so grateful I had my helmet on. It was only a 35mph lay-down but the ONLY part of my helmet that hit was right on my chin, and it was HARD. So even if youre riding around the neighborhood, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE wear your helmet!

I have full coverage so it fixed everything up. Time to upgrade gear and get myself that Shoei I have had my eyes on!

Glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Don't worry about it though man, we all go down sooner or later. I just went down hard a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like the sliders saved a lot of the fairings. But look forward to your new shoei and get back on her.

I got back on her immediately. The tank, upper and even the clutch lever werent even touched! Worst part of all... I just moved into my new place and my mom was following me over in the car to help drop some groceries off.

Glad your OK man....good on you for wearing gear! My gear helped me stay alive once and I have the helmet still.

You can crash anywhere....a know of someone who was killed 5 seconds from his house because someone backed out of their driveway and killed him. He just finished changing the oil so he took it for a quick scoot and his neighbor killed him.
