Default almost highsided

i was leaving work and just cruising slowed down for a wide corner and down shifted to 2nd. when i was started to exit the corner gave it some gas smoothly and i guess it wasnt smooth enough or to much on cold tires. the rear end broke loose and when it got traction again my body just flew in the air while still holding the handle bars. and i landed right back on the seat and rode off. my fear always been highsiding and now that i almost crashed from it. i really dont want to do that again....

Um, you DID highside.... even if it was a little one.

Don't be a chump, though... you just broke your highside cherry and now its time to progress. If one highside didn't hurt you, then NO HIGHSIDE CAN!

My suggestion:
-Get some armor-all and use the whole bottle to shine up your rear tire real good...
-Then, starting leaning the bike hard and dragging parts through gravely corners with lots of sand in them.
-Use your leg to step the bike around corners, MX/Motard style.
-Don't forget to wear your Icon field armor vest when you do all this

Relax, chief. I was trying to lighten your mood (ha-ha), not make fun of you for high-siding.

I'm sure it was scary as crap. I almost lowsided my bike for no apparent reason (looked back and didn't see any rocks/gravel/sand/oil) while taking a normal turn at a fairly low speed.

It sucks and there isn't usually enough time to do anything except realize that you're going to hit the ground.

In my case, it was a low speed and I actually *did* use some dirt-bike technique by planting a foot down on the lower side of the bike and bumping it up enough to not go down.... but its not a technique I would recommend. A 370 lbs streetbike is a far cry from a 150-200 lbs dirtbike, and I could have just as easily destroyed my ankle (liganments, bones, muscles, tendons and all) and STILL lowsided the bike.

The tire just gave way for no apparent reason. Weird.

Glad to hear you didnt end up going down.
I had the back end step out on me a couple times on the way to work the other day. Kept giving it too much gas cause i hadnt rode the bike in a month and during that month i logged quite a bit of time on the dirtbike. its fun to snap open the throttle on the dirtbike and slide around but not so fun on the 6.

Had my first near high side in the pouring rain on the way to Road America. This is right after a pickup cut me off and I laid it down on the right side breaking off my front brake lever.
