It was probably all of the above. Not enough miles on the tire yet, the fact that it was cold (the tire I mean) and the fact that you grabbed too much brake all played a part. Hopefully you're not hurt, even a slow get-off can be painful if you land badly.
*edit* it could also have been cold brakes. Cold brakes tend to be much more grabby than warm brakes, simply becuz the brakes are designed to work when hot. A lotta times, cold brakes (for both bikes and cars) will go *nothing nothing nothing GRAB* as you squeeze the brakes harder and harder and suddenly you're in way too deep.
