Default Ok, so how exactly does one crash?

Because it seems that in every thread I read in this part of the forum they include things like: "it slipped out from under me", "I was going in too hot", "I was pushing it too hard", and "I was going to fast." All of those statements kind of disturb me when I read them because all of these accidents are taking place on public roads. Why are ya'll riding so aggressivley on the streets anyways? I've now owned my first bike for a week now and can't imagine riding like it seems ya'll do. Ya'll would probabily laugh if you saw how I'm riding. I shift into 2nd at around 12mph, and into 3rd at 20mph. I haven't gone over 35 yet and quite frankley don't want to. I'm having so much fun just cruisin around on her and learning. It has even affected my driving. I'm finding I'm far more alert and cautious even when I'm in my car now. It's like I'm as aware as I am on the bike as I am behind the wheel now since I now see the other side. I don't know. I guess to each his own but it seems as long as you are riding within your safe limits and not exceeding the speed limit, it's a breeze. And mind you those posted speed limits are what it's safe for in a car, on a bike I'd imagine it's a tad slower. That's how I'm treading it anyway. So aside from stunting, acting a squid, or a car hitting you, how is this happening so damn much with yall?

^give it time, you'll find out.

And then you'll go to track

oh.. and my only times have been from cars hitting me thus far.... aside from the one time I had new tires and it was cold out... haha

Once you get really confortable and better at riding, just crusing around town is boring. You're going to want to see how fast you can take your bike, or how low you can go when in a turn. That's when people to start to push their limits and somietimes crash. Its just part or riding. I'm sure you're going to get to that point where just goint 35mph around town will become really boring and then start riding more aggressively.

Ionno man. Every time I get on that seat death is the first thing that enters my mind. I look down, grip the bars, and think, man, so this is how their last ride started, this is what it looked like, and at that instant whatever ego I have goes right out the window and respect, control, maturity, and reality, set in. At that point I have no intentions or breaking the limit, or mine. Sure I plan to do track days and such, and yes that is when I'll want to feel what it's like to ride as the bike is intended. But on the streets, to me, it's just a pretty lookin' moped. Every car that passes by, even when returning to my lot at 5mph's, I see nothing but a big ass cage out to hit me. Like some huge T-Rex just glaring me in the face and mocking me. She's only going to go how fast I want her to go.

fear is good... but not too much where it paralyzes you. it should cause you to ride smarter.

if you feel paralyzed... then maybe riding a high tuned sport bike should not be your cup of tea.

ride it like you stole it.

Fear it I do. Well, not it, more like what it can do to me. I know that this is not a toy, nor anything that should EVER be taken for granted, or disrespected in any way. It's like a chic, love her always and she'll be the best thing to you always, disrespect her once, and she'll make you pay for a lifetime. Even at these low speeds I'm comfortable in right now I can tell there is so much more inside. And it's not corked down low either. You can tell that her grunt is not even a millimeters worth away from the slightest shift of your skin over that throttle. It's there, kinda chillin, and damn close. When I'm riding I would say that my brain resides in my head, and in my right hand. My eyes and head always scanning, looking at every angle for the unexpected to come from, and in my hand control, stability. It's crazy. I don't have a death grip on her though. My friend came over this weekend after not working with me for about 4 days and follwed me around a bit. He said I look 100 times more comfortable and balanced than day 1. And I can feel that, she's lose and yet steady under my control. It's starting to feel like it's actions are apart of my subconcious thoughts...

You writing poetry or talking about your bike?

It won't be long and you'll be talking about how you entered a corner "too hot" and you "lost the front-end". It happens no matter how much you ride, how safe you ride, or how skilled you are. We all make mistakes, hopefully you won't, but if you ride long enough, you probably will. Sounds like you have your mind in the right spot, hopefully you keep it there.

RIDE SAFE!!!!!!!

If I want hot I'll park the bike and put the Mustang's 500hp to use. Trust me. One is very forgiving despite it's wicked power, the other is absolutley not, I think I'd rather be stupid in the car, should I ever want to be stupid, ya know?. When I open up the garage I see 2 sexy asses now side by side. Based on my mentallity that day and at that moment, I'll make my decision then.
