Unhappy It was finally my turn...*Pics*

So yesteray, I was riding pretty agressively in the twisties and all was great until my front tire slipped from under me and caused me to lowside. I still don't know exactly how it happend but it was a pretty big scare for me. This was my first accident and it was pretty brutal, even though the bike could have been much more damaged. I slid from the street, over the curb, up a small hill and then hit the wall you'll see in the pics below. I was going about 80Kmh when i went down. I always thought before this incident, that if you're sliding, you can somewhat control your body...Ha, yea right, i was tossed all over the place without a clue of what was going on and without any kind of control of anything.

I've never loved my shoei so much

My A* held up pretty good

Here is where i went down

Where me and the bike hit the curb

Damages:
Front Rim
Dent in the tank
Fairing stay is cracked in a few diff places
Yoshimura slip on
Front tire
Headlight
Front fairing
Rear fairing
Right lower fairing & Mid fairing & ram air cover
Oil leaking everywhere
busted water pump
and a bunch of small shit i.e. turn signals

I'm feeling a little beat up right now but i know it could have been a lot worse. My helmet did it's job perfectly. The jacket and gloves worked great, my pants just have a few rips on my hips and i praised my A*smx4 boots. Honestly, i can't imagine the pain some people must go through when they crash without any gear. I'm just glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

I had to push my bike home, took me about 30 minutes. I was stopped by 3 cops on the way. One told me to stop pushing the bike so he can see my licence and paper work for the bike...

Now the question is, it worth it to fix up all my damages for an 01? Because my clutch is finished too. I'm debating whether it's time for an upgrade. But not any time soon, i'm still a student and an upgrade for me would be like an 05 R6 in a couple of months.

I know it was a long post but thanks for reading.

**Cliff notes:
Lowside while riding pretty hard
Wear your gear!
Is it worth it to fix it up or is it time for an upgrade?

Thanks guys

glad you were wearing your gear and that you're alright, u woulda got fucked up from that had you not

i've owned a 2000 and would like to comment on something. your frame slider is in, what seems like, a very weird location. usually it's either in the hole in the mid fairing (no cut frame slider) or in a hole that you cut in the middle of the fairing (cut frame slider), not behind it i could be wrong tho. but judging from the sliding damage it seems it didnt do it's job too great. it seems like it saved the plastics from breaking, but they still got pretty rashed.

but again, glad you're doin ok

The slider is fine...its not the frame slider style your thinking. I think they refer to that one as the clutch slider.

Glad your ok.....the turn doesnt look to sharp for a low side to happen. Did you hit the front brake at all? Its a good think you had all your gear on and didnt hit the wall there in the distance.

Learn from it and continue riding.

those are small backroads that only companies use during the week, on weekends it's completely dead.

It doesn't show much in the pic, but my mid fairing is cracked in so many places. The slider only protected my rear brake. As for almost hitting the big wall...well i actually ended up hitting the small wall on the left side, don't ask me how...

First of all. I'm glad you're alive.

Second. I'm glad you were wearing more than just your lid.

I don't think I'd fix it up. Part out what you can and start saving some cash for the next one.

yea, thatd be $$ to replace all the rashed parts, but if you dont care if its ugly, keep it. much cheaper than a new 05 r6.

b4 you decide to jump on it and ride it again (if you do) make sure your forks arent bent

hitting curbs will usually do that

If you want to fix it up to mint condition, no, it's not worth it, especially if you have insurance on it. Just let them total it out and be done with it.

If you don't have insurance, fix it as well as you can afford to.

Keep this in mind. If you DO make it mint again, you can use the scratched plastics for trackday plastics.

If you don't need it to be mint, you can probably get it fixed well enough to ride for less than $500.

FinalAeon has a good point. If you can get it to a computrak vendor to make sure everything is straight, that's the best thing you can do, but just for them to check it, I think they charge $150-200. If anythign is bent, the price goes up from there.
