I have not been riding very long at all. I have asked this question to a few people and I never really get an answer other than "Everyone goes down at some time" How accurate is this? How long did it take you all before you went down your first time? How long should I hold my breath before I go down or should I just not worry about it unless it happens?
You'll hear plenty both ways, search around, there was a post a while ago, "how many times have you crashed" or something.
I have crashed on the street once, never at the track... cuz i've never riden at the track. Took me 3 months - hit a deer on the highway. Be careful, night riding is mroe dangerous. never trust ANYBODY and always assume theyre going to do the dumbest thing possible, thats all you can do.
I was learning to ride and took a corner too wide got scared and stood it up, right in time to hit the curb and get tossed nito the bushes. It was hilarious because it was an 87 honda nighthawk 650 (lil heavy) and my buddy Josh who owned it was teaching me and 3 other guys how to ride so I had 4 people there to watch and laugh. O well it was my first day...

I was moving my bike out of the garage bay at work like 6 months(i think) after I got it and was trying to pop it up for a coworker and ran out of space in the parking lot to stop safely, and hit the curb going prob. 10mph. Bent a fork tube and rode it like that for a few more months not knowing. And the bike fell on my heel and I thought it was broken. X-rays found nothing and my dad laughed. All was ok. Luckily that was my only time(knock on wood) and hopefully it won't happen on the street.
I came home from school and told my dad I wanted to get a bike. He called up his car salesman buddy and the next day I had a $1200 Katana. I'd never ridden a motorcycle before and figured my dad would show me the ropes. He pulls it out of the driveway and onto the street (isolated street with little traffic). "Take it down the street and back." That was it. Rode it down the street shifting gears fine. Tried to do a U-turn. Down she goes (at like 5mph). Picked it up, rode it back to my dad, showed him the damage. "Got that out of your system? Good. Go again."
Wrecked a year later because of oil on an on-ramp. Sold the Katana to my older brother, who fixed it up, and bought the R6. Wrecked a year and a half later entering a turn too hot at some local twisties. That was about a year and a half ago.
Today. Twice. Within the first 30 mins. 2 U turns went full lock and I had to set her down. Not drop. Set. Still I'm pissed and pretty disheartened.
