I'm done riding aggressivly on the street
It was my last ride of the season as I was planning on returning to college (where I don't ride).
I got my dad to go out with me and I did my regular ride out on some country roads.
I am infront of my dad and I hit it hard around a very long left hander followed by a right hander the same size.
I make the left turn at 80+, flick it the other way and go for the right turn.
A pick up truck went the opposite way just as I hit the apex; I look out of the exit and see a small deer right behind a mailbox at some farm house on the inside of the turn.
I try to stand the bike up and start to put on the binders.
I got on the rear brake a bit too hard and lock up the tire.
Unfortunatly I was still leaned over a bit so I started sliding sideways and running wide.
I held on, and thought to myself, this is not good.
Fortunately, I got it upright and kept rolling; granted, I crossed over the divider line.
Lucky for me that pickup truck already passed me and no other cars were going the other direction. I pulled over down the road, asked my dad if he saw it (he didn't), and we turned around to see the mark on the road.
I look at the mark from where I locked up the tire and I saw a 50+ ft mark following the curve.
My dad asked me if I wanted to go back home, I said yes.
Long story short, not a good way to end the riding season, but lesson learned; I planned on doing a number of track days next season (I hoped to this season but couldn't).
I'm done riding aggressivly on the street.

Good save! Ride the pace in the canyons... never know whats out there and close calls are too common. I went into a corner HOT and ended up tuckin the front, hittin a guard rail, breaking my left scapula, 2 ribs, and punctureing my lung (knemothorax). Made it through, healed up to about 98% ..got lucky, and a new bike. Have two friends that have died... Ride Safe!! Ride the pace. (Only on the street, rip it on the track!)

Yeah, since my crash in the streets 2 yrs ago, I glad to say I've slow down while street riding.

Yep, had the same thoughts all day today. Went down earlier today for the first time and I'll say it'll probably mellow me out on the street. Just can't get over how hard the bike hit the guard rail as I slid beside it, even at a relatively low speed.

Glad you made it out of that one man.
I've gone down three times... three strikes. Its not fun man. I plowed through a wooden post fence and broke it into at least a dozen pieces.

Another +1. Glad nothing serious came of the incident and glad you're ok. Heck, I'm glad everyone who's posted in this thread with our stories is ok! I had my moment of "this is really stupid" too, when I crashed late last year. I've been saving my pennies for track days and just biding my time in between, becuz no matter how bad the itch gets to ride the twisties again, the images of what I've been thru always make the ride less fun.

Pics of the skid please. I live in the norther Cali canyons and have come around a lot of corners where it is mosly steep embankments and the dear is right on the edge of the road. It is usualy to late to try and brake or stand the bike up so i cut the throttle a bit and get ready for the worst but i end up riding through it most of the time as not to panic and crash.

Like I said, it was my last ride of the summer as I just returned back to college, so I'll try to get my dad to take some pictures of the skids.
