Yesterday was hot. somewhere around 95 degrees. Sun shine everywhere; not a cloud in the sky.
Looking out the window, I had wish I bought a mesh jacket . Oh well, too late for this ride, so I put on my JR leather jacket, JR gauntlets, and Shark helmet and headed out. In this heat, people probably thought I was over doing it.
About a mile after I leave my neighborhood, I pass a guy on a Harley. He was wearing one of those half helmet, sunglass, boots, jeans, t shirt, and some kind thin gloves. As far as protection goes, he probably thought I was overdoing it too.
Anyways, he passes me because people in my lane are going the speed limit. So, I get over a couple of lanes and follow behind him. Soon we up come to this 90degree corner near the police station and courthouses. I'm still following and I am thinking, fck this guys going slow through this corner. And then bam, he wipes out right in front of me. I see the moment right before he hits the ground till he stopped rolling. The bike stopped about 10ft from the curve.
I pull over to the side of the road and get off my bike to see if he needed me to call 911. There was alot of cagers out there that stopped and offer some sort of help too.
He dislocated his collar bone, and broke his wrist. Anyway, he said he must of hit some sand in the road or his foot peg got caught during the lean. Man, I looked at the road and thought to myself, that is the cleanest road around here. There wasn't any sand on the road at all.
I picked up his bike and waited for the cops, then I left. I didnt wait for the ambulance.
Now 2 weeks ago, my cousin wrecked on the same corner, but he was going much faster than this guy, I estimate 50+ mph.
See pics of what happened to the rim.

My cousin slid and tumbled into the curb just like his bike. Fortunately, he had all his gear on, and he only ended up with a sore back and a small road rash on his knee.
The Harley guy was going probably around 25 - 30 mph when he fell. He ended up with a seperated collar bone, broke wrist, minor road rash, and a ride to the hospital.
Seeing how he ended up, made me feel good about wearing my leathers that day and everyday.
PS.
I think I know what caused that Harley guy to go down. On the way home, I remember thinking what a crappy line he was taking into that corner when I was following him. At that time, I didnt think much of it because he wasn't going fast and he could easily adjust his line at that speed.
The way the bike fell and the way the rider fell, I am 99% sure that he must of locked the rear during the corner(so he could adjust his line).
