Default Buyers Beware - David A. Wilks

Hey...not sure if this would be the right section to post this up on but figured it would be applicable here.

I am also a member on the Triumph675.net forum and this post was in its "Maintenance and Repair" section:

http://www.triumph675.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15278

It's a pretty long thread but what it's basically about is this one "member", Tango1300, put up a post telling how the dogbones on his buddy's Triumph Daytona 675 had failed causing him to wreck. He was very detailed and had pics of the failed part and everything. Members started reading the thread and obviously were concerned. People were talking about calling Triumph to demand they recall the part, etc., etc. I admit, he even had me concerned about 675!

Tango1300 then went on to say that he knew a machinist who could manufacture a new, beefier dogbone for the Triumphs. Being the "concerned rider" that he was, he was willing to have this part made and sell it to whoever wanted it...said he would sell the part "exclusively to Triumph 675 owners through Ellis Performance of Tomball Texas". Members were obviously paranoid from the fear that their suspension could fail at any moment and KILL them.

Finally, someone, "YouGottaBeKidding", came on (Page 6) and exposed Tango1300 for the con man that he was. Page 6 contains links that tell all about him.

Apparently his name is David A. Wilks and he goes from forum to forum (cars, bikes, whatever) selling stolen parts or just taking people's money/parts with the promise that he will modify and/or sell them a better part. Long story short...he is a CLASS A CROOK!!!

HTH
