Default Insurance question -moving from Canada

I hope to move to Australia with my girlfriend to find work (Nurinsg jobs) within 2 years. It seems like a long time away, but it's not.

One important thing on my plate is how expensive is insurnace for motorcycles?

Because I'm moving from Canada, are there any stipulations? Are all my records transfered there? (I have one accident), do I start clean? etc...

Here in Ontario, Canada I cannot afford the insurance because it's not worth the hassle. I'd be paying at least $4500 for basic coverage. I'm hoping for a miracle if I move to the land downunder ;)

Any information would be great!
Thanks guys.

Good move coming down under. You can ride all year round. As for insurance I pay around $600 for full comp. One crash against my name.I don't know weather your $4500 is US$ or AU$ but either way thats very expensive

The price has alot to do with , you age and where the bike will be kept and value of the bike.

I'm 35 and paid $1200 for full insurance on a R1 valued at 20k.

If you are both in the nursing game , you will have no problems getting a job

Do you no where you are going to live ? Sydney , Melb, Qld ?

Flaming Ozy,

Thanks for the help.

From what I've been told (through my girlfriends brother) is that Melbourne is a 'slower' lifestyle comapred to Sydney's. Personally, I don't want to jump into a fast paced transition right away. So, as it stands, Melbourne is the place we have in mind, however, if there are better paying jobs elsewhere then we will highly reconsider

I can't wait to move!
