Default How Illegal is my exhaust?

Hey guys,
Recently bought a 99 R6 with a Yoshimura RS-3 Stainless steel exhaust. The bike sounds absolutely awesome! But I'm thinking it's probably not legal, especially considering it doesn't have one of those noise tag thingos that I've been hearing about.
So... what do I have to do to get it all checked out and have it all legalised?

I have tha same pipe on my r6 and it is totaly legal. If baffel (sp) is removed the bike will be much louder. You may have to buy a new pipe b\c repacking it will be a pain in the ass for you!

keep an eye out in the bike shops for a little gadget that you can insert into your exhaust to quieten it down a bit...... it's just a tip that you can screw into the end of the can (you have to drill a tiny hole on the under side of the tip - not visible) that does a damn good job of queitening things down.....and it's removeable for when you don't mind being noticed!

You can also find them on the uk ebay site www.ebay.co.uk

Any can without the tag is illegal even if it is a street can. It doesn't matter if it is to quiet to be heard. No tag = Not legal. So those tips are not going to do you any good if a cop pulls you over. He'll look for the tag and book you if you don't have it. You can pick up the tags blank for $20. Engrave it yourself and you will get away with it unless you get pulled by the EPA with a mobile tester with them.

All depends on what state your in........In melbourne, no one really cares, in NSW the cops are anal about it, in Qld the cops used to be anal about it but have softened their stance recently
