Default How much do u pay???

How much do u pay for insurance????

I haven't gotten my R6 yet but will have it soon (2004R6). My cheapest quote was $5500. I'm 18 and haven't had anything registered before.

Ijust wanted to know weather this is the usual bullshit price or am i getting screwed?

$1600 agreed value plus helmet. I'm 29 supposed to be rating 1. This is Yamaha organised insurance, I'm very lazy :\ I've asked to be sent the policy details but I'm still waiting for them, so flame away if this is not right

Default NRMA vs Swann

The under 18 is what screws you.
If you go through NRMA and can prove a 5 year clean record they put you straight on 60% no claim. For me that was about $1800.
I was with Swann with my last bike and the best they would do was 20% unless I could prove I already had 60% with NRMA, then it transfered. That is why i'm with NRMA to get the 60% for a year then go back to swann which is about $1400.
Thats all for agreed value $12500.
It's a very expensive ride, especially if your young.

NRMA was the cheapest quote anywhere.

NRMA=$5500
Swan=$5900
GIO=$9000

I'm thinking about getting my sister to register and insure it for me through her name and me as the second rider and i just pay for everything. She's 28 with her bike licence. That should bring the price down a bit.

Screw all insurance companies!!

Default For sure

For sure that is the way to go.
My NRMA is for any rider on the bike. Although I tell everyone it's only for me to keep them from wanting rides.
The only prob I see here is your Sis loosing her no claim when.....I mean if you drop it.
Still if you promised to cover the extra she'd take if this did happen it'd still be less than on your own.

If you have to pay $5500 in insurance, don't worry about it.

Ride without insurance.

I three years you'll pay for a new bike.

I guess the lenders would want insurance for the loan.

Try & get it through your sister. If you can't, save up until you can afford to buy it outright & then have no insurance.

The only other option to just get you on the road on a bike is to get a cheaper bike & save up for the R6 down the track.

Originally I was quoted $3500 for comprehensive insurance on the r6. This was based on 15 months of comprehensive on my cbr250rr which I made no claims on. The cbr cost $1300 to insure with comprehensive. I have never claimed on my car in 10+ years but never had comprehensive insurance on it either, it was this that I used to negotiate my current rate. I got mildly scewed by the way.

Maybe you might want to consider a smaller bike for insurance purposes. A cbr250rr will thrash a 600 if the rider is crap.... an rs250 is in between the the cbr and a r6 (you probably knew this) both are significantly cheaper to insure in Victoria.
