I have a 99 R6 with 13k miles, i rode it a few weeks ago and pushed it to 130mph and all of a sudden started to hear a ticking noise in the crank case when i exited the highway... no smoke, hesitation, revs fine, no oil leaks, has enough oil, coolant, etc, had service done, shifts fine... i had a mechanic check it and its not the cam chain tensioner and the sound is coming from the crankcase and gets louder pass 4k rpm~ the ticking is almost silent below 4k rpm... and its not the throwo ut bearing either... I've notified yamaha and they have to do a tear down!
but i thought i'd post here first if anyone has had the same experience and know what it is...
